Morning Buzz: Oasis, Morrissey, No Age, Swell Season

:: Noel Gallagher is going to do it all on his own. So he says.

:: Glad to hear that Morrissey is out of the hospital after taking a fall during a set thanks to some breathing difficulties. Once you hit 50, the falls get worse, so it’s a good thing the Mozzer doesn’t need a new hip.

:: Los Campesinos! just revealed plans for a new album and the track list.

:: In America, No Age plays big venues. In Germany, the band plays rooms that look like closets.

:: Paste recently caught up with The Swell Season. Oo la la, Sasoon!

:: So, what do y’all think about Where the Wild Things Are?

No see Wild Things, but I saw Astroboy. Decent but predictable.

It was a fun movie. Too many bad reviews.

I liked the first 30-45 minutes of the movie but I was disappointed in the whole drama & no resolution thing.

WTWTA was SO lame. The writing was so unnecessarily heavy-handed. It looked good though.

the writing was the opposite of heavy-handed.
    i’m not sure i’ve encountered a lighter-handed script ever.
subject matter was heavy, but perfect.
but script was appropriately vague and instinctual. writing like little kids think.

there was alot of drama, but as for no resolution, i’m not sure the movie really calls for one. being a little kid can suck. hard. that’s kind of the point, so there’s nothing to be resolved. unless the flick fastforwarded to max’s welladjusted adulthood. and that would be stupid.
instead of a resolution, the movie provides a powerfully poignant silent scene at the end, which does more with a couple of exchanged looks than computer animation could ever hope to accomplish.

it’ll make you remember parts about being a kid you’d long forgotten, forgotten for a good reason.
and it’ll make you want to call your mom.
and it’ll make you feel guilty for equating children’s culture with pixar flicks.

i wanted to be too cool for wtwta, but it caught me off guard and kicked my ass.

wish i could see astroboy, but i blew all my money on bananas and cigarettes.
