Morning Buzz: Old Media, Nine Inch Nails, Gossip, No Age
:: You could say that Ernesto Priego is another old media guy just grinding his axe, since he argues that the old guard still has real power in the music industry. But giving him that label is wrong. Remember, the people willing/able to spend disposable income — you know, the squares — still listen to traditional media. While the tide certainly is turning, it hasn’t turned yet.
:: I knew that plenty of pro wrestling buffs also double as Nine Inch Nails fanboys, but this wannabe WWE shot from the Terminal 5 show makes it easier for those Wittgensteinian titans to connect the dots with Hegelian precision.
:: Narduwar recently did a video interview with Nas. The question he should’ve asked, that was on everyone’s lips: Nas, why aren’t you good anymore?
:: MOKB had a sit-down with As Tall As Lions‘ Dan Nigro recently. And apparently the band had a good week on the charts, too.
:: The Music Slut asked Gossip guitarist Brace Paine eight questions. And not one of them was about Beth Ditto’s proclivity toward nudity in print?!?!
:: No Age just released a new track, You’re a Target, from their upcoming EP. When a band is so purposefully lo-fi, it’s like they don’t get what being lo-fi means conceptually. But maybe — just maybe — No Age is very slowly convincing me otherwise. Where do you stand? Love? Hate? Indifference? My guess is macaroni salad.
:: Random tracks that don’t suck:
Squirrel Bait – Kid Dynamite
June Madrona – Serious Baby
The Lonely Hearts – Love Comes Quickly

no age is good, weirdo rippers is a solid track, the super lo-fi can be a little mind numbing tho, the feel of this music reminds me of the feel when i was a kiddo

Reznor’s first wave of bleep-bloop/defective Colecovision music was so unappealing to me, and he just had to come back and be all, “I GAIND WAIT BUT IM BACK W MAH COMPUTERZ LOL”.
