New Releases: Starflyer 59, Owl City, Neon Horse
Yeahhhh, sooo… not much to talk about here, folks. Move right along.
Okay, actually that Starflyer 59 release is a two-disc collection of B-sides and such that were only available on vinyl until now. It’s pretty good. And Neon Horse, that “mystery band” that’s really just a bunch of dudes from other former Tooth and Nail bands has their second album out. It’s fun times.
Also, Owl City is pretty decent, as are Amadou & Miriam, YACHT and Cave In (if you have a turntable).
:: Amadou & Mariam, The Magic Couple (Wrasse)
:: Anthem In, The Cloudbusting (Quiet/Loud)
:: Band of Skulls, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey (Artist First)
:: Beardfish, Destined Solitaire (Inside Out)
:: Blur, Midlife: A Beginner’s Guide to Blur (Capitol/EMI)
:: Cave In, Planets Of Old 7″ (Hydra Head)
:: Champagne Socialists, Blue Genes (Single) [Slumberland]
:: Death Angel, Sonic German Beatdown CD/DVD (Nuclear Blast)
:: Death Before Dishonor, Better Ways To Die (Bridge Nine)
:: Divine Heresy, Bringer Of Plagues (Century Media)
:: Dogs Die in Hot Cars, Please Describe Yourself (Fontana)
:: Eureka, Shackleton’s Voyage (Inside Out)
:: The Features, Some Kind of Salvation (429)
:: George Thorogood & The Destroyers, The Dirty Dozen (Capitol)
:: Georgia Anne Muldrow, Umsindo (1 AM Approach)
:: Howling Bells, Radio Wars (Nettwerk)
:: John Adams, Dr. Atomic Symphony/Guide to Strange Places (Nonesuch)
:: Kevin Hearn, Havana Winter (Six Shooter)
:: Kid British, It Was This or Football: First Half (Mercury UK)
:: Kieran Kane, Somewhere Beyond the Roses (Compass)
:: Lou Reid & Carolina, My Own Set of Rules (Rural Rhythm)
:: Michael Jackson, The Stripped Mixes (Motown/Universal)
:: Neon Horse, Haunted Horse: Songs of Love, Defiance and Delusion (Tooth & Nail)
:: The Octopus Project, Golden Beds (Peek-a-Boo)
:: Owl City, Ocean Eyes (Republic)
:: Pisces, A Lovely Sight (Numero Group)
:: The Radio Dept., David EP (Labrador Sweden)
:: Starflyer 59, Ghosts of the Past (Tooth & Nail)
:: The Trashcan Sinatras, In the Music (Hensley)
:: Trevor Hall, Trevor Hall (Vanguard)
:: YACHT, See Mystery Lights (DFA)
:: Various Artists, Adam: Original Motion Picture Sountrack (Nettwerk)
Did I miss anything important? Post it in the comments.

Nothing compelling for me this week.
Does anyone know if that MJ album was a last minute cash-in?

The lead vocalist of Neon Horse sounds really familiar. Hmm.
Does anyone know when a new Stavesacre album is coming out?

Does anyone actually listen to this crap known as Owl City? I never heard it before until now… man, I can’t believe it’s worthy of being in the title of this post. It’s such crap! Yuck!

Judging from the decent spelling/grammar and the extreme aversion to synthy pop, and use of the word “yuck”, we can determine that Kmac is a slightly overweight soccer mom – possibly was a huge Def Leppard fan in high school.

Lol. I’ve got a pretty broad music taste but I hate Def Leppard. I’d actually like to know if any soccer mom’s read this blog. Maybe there should be a poll on that?
I guess I’ve not transitioned into the pop/synth/dance genre like the rest of the music industry right now; pardon, the trendy music in the music industry.
I’ll probably listen to Sunny Day for the rest of my life. Man, those were the days.
