Obits – Fake Kinkade (Live on Jimmy Fallon)
The list of bands on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon just keeps getting better and better. I don’t know if Fallon consistently has better musical guests than Conan did, but it’s at least neck and neck this early on in Jimmy’s late night career.

I just found out about the Obits a couple days ago. I am shamed to have not known sooner. I’ve dusted off the Jehu and Snakes records until I get this one.
Decent performance.

The first time I heard the Obits was when they performed on Jimmy Fallon. Conan always used to have a wide variety of musical guests and many of those were new or independent artists. Jimmy Fallon seems to have taken Conan’s formula to the next level. When I saw the Obits playing Fake Kinkade on Jimmy Fallon I felt stupid because they sounded so amazing that I thought that they were a popular new band that I had not heard of yet. I love music and follow it quite closely so this realization that I actually hadn’t heard of this band yet was embarrassing to me.
After the show I immediately went on the Internet to find out more about this group. To my amazement I found out that the Obits were a hard working independent band from Brooklyn who were veteran musicians all having played for other small bands; trying hard to make a name for themselves in the music industry. After working hard all these years it seems like the Obits have finally found the perfect chemistry and sound to gain them critical acclaim in the music press. I downloaded the album from a torrent site and then listened to it over and over. This small band from Brooklyn has probably the best garage rock album I have ever heard. It is solid from front to back. There isn’t one song where I feel the urge to hit the skip button. This is a must have album for any music enthusiasts collection; so, I headed down to my cities only independent music store -Grooves to buy the album to show my support for the band. Since then it`s been on heavy rotation where ever I go. The Obits, debut album I Blame You is a Masterpiece and I ask you to do yourself a favour and join the Obits Band Wagon.
