Photos: Drummer at Skull Alley
If I dubbed a genre “Ohio rock,” it might be tough for me to quantify other than the obvious geographical connotation. I can’t exactly put my finger on what it is, but’s the phrase that came to mind when I saw Drummer — primarily known as Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney’s new project with a handful of other drummers (Witty name, then, right?) — at Skull Alley last week.
It’s a little bit of the band being influenced by notable acts who’ve flexed their buckeye muscle over the last couple of decades. And it’s a little bit of the band being able to capture the essence of my home state musically. What it’s a lot of, though, is heartwarming for someone who misses the heartland of America from time to time.
