Pitchfork Highlights Festivals This Weekend
Pitchfork Music Festival is easily the hottest fest happening in the U.S. this weekend — and possibly the entire summer, depending on how tight the jeans are of the person you ask. As much flak as Pitchfork gets, they do this up right just about every year. This installment is no exception, with Beirut, Built to Spill, The Flaming Lips, Fucked Up, M83 Matt and Kim, The Jesus Lizard, The National, The Mae Shi and The Walkmen making up only a portion of the strong lineup.
But hey, if you’re on the east coast and have no money, Siren Music Fest is free. And hardly a slouch. Plus they have some overlap with a couple of good bands at Pitchfork if that concerns you.
Mile High Music Festival is alright, too. Granted, it might not have hipster havens like Pitchfork Media or Village Voice behind it, but The Black Keys, Gov’t Mule and Thievery Corporation are involved. But since it doesn’t cater to music snobs, there’s a good bit of chaff to go with the wheat.
