Protest the Hero – Gallop Meets the Earth

Protest the Hero – Gallop Meets the Earth
Score: 5.684

Continuing to affirm my opinion that modern metal bands doing live albums is rarely a good idea, Gallop Meets the Earth is mediocre.

Present are Protest the Hero‘s signature annoying, pitchy vocals and unimpressive screaming, the between-song banter where said squealer makes fun of the audience, all backed by a band that sounds like they actually know what they’re doing. The saving grace of this album is the frilly, progressive guitar work and how it melds with a skilled drummer’s complex beats.

Sometimes I’m not sure what to do with these live albums. They’re a nice novelty piece for the loyal fans, a collector’s item for anyone that was in attendance, but with very few exceptions, they’re not worth listening to more than once. This album is no exception. It’s always better to be at the show anyway.

if you compare PTH to other metal bands you can talk a lot of s h i t about them. but you have to accept they are unique.
everybody complains about Rody’s voice, i’ve listened to the “instrumental” versions and i have to say that it needs rody’s voice its just perfect for the band.
my opinion is that gallop meets the earth could have been better on the aspect of live experience and it is an ok dvd. On the other hand PTH is just perfect and dont Fuc$%^ mess with them.

    peace!
