St. Vincent – Actor

St. Vincent’s second album, Actor, lulls you into a false sense of security in places — and then punches you in the mouth. Not in a way that’ll knock your teeth out, but in such a way that forces your blood to start flowing. Annie Clark’s soothing vocals move against a background of film-inspired arrangements, and Actor creates a mix of power and lightness that pulls you through the rest of the album not knowing what to expect next.
St. Vincent is like Regina Spektor and Feist with a bit of kick reminiscent of Karen O. Tracks like Marrow and Black Rainbow give you a sense that after this second album St. Vincent will be similarly etched into the fabric of indie music for years to come.

I wish Amazon didn’t have the mp3 exclusive. No comment on the album, that, just the marketing.
