Stream Leathermouth’s New Album

While Gerard Way has been spending his time away from My Chemical Romance writing mediocre comic books, guitarist Frank Iero has been playing good music in the form of Leathermouth. Then again, we already told you that, so this is old news. What isn’t old news is that you can stream the band’s upcoming album, XO, in its entirety.
In addition, the fine folks at Epitaph have given us the first single from XO, entitled Bodysnatchers 4 Ever. And from what I can tell, no one else has posted it yet. So eat that.

anyone else notice the trend with guys from the bands at the forefront of the mainstream-hot topic-emo explosion, like thursday & my chemical romance, trying to regain “cred” by making music that sounds like the stuff that initially influenced them?
i suppose they desperately want to be respected…by whom, though? people who *actually like music? the people who influenced them? anybody but the mall-emo kids?
your thoughts?

Amen on 90 Lb Wuss. Christians didn’t know what to do with guys like Jeff Suffering, Allan Aguirre or any other artist who thought outside the box.
I happen to meet Frank Iero in a tattoo parlor in Dallas a few years ago. Cool guy..no rock star at attitude at all.
So while I’m not a fan of MCR at all, I’d give this a shot.

Bands like Whitechapel ruined the concept of “lyrical content” for me.

I never did get into 90, by the way, but I’ve heard a few songs and loved it. This is good. Surprised to hear it from someone out of MCR, but hey, not complaining.

This band is better than anything MCR has ever done.
I have a question though. What’s up with masks in Punk/Hardcore bands? LeATHERMOUTH, Sounds of Animals Fighting, Hollywood Undead, United Nations.

Seems a little far-fetched to propose that someone would go through all the effort and money to form a band just to acquire “respect” from nearly-anonymous people that they would never meet nor care what they think.
The simple explanation (usually the more accurate one) is that people in bands make music that they want to. Most musicians listen to a great variety of music, so it seems natural that from these different influences, they would create different types of music, thus getting involved with different bands.
Mall-emo kids like music, too. It’s just music you don’t listen to.
