Tegan and Sara Follow in Others’ Footsteps with Their Own Shoes

I guess letting athletes design their own shoes is passé these days. Just not cool enough for the kids, apparently. What does appear to be cool enough, though, is the practice of musicians designing shoes. First there was the Alkaline Trio shoe from Nike, then we had Stephin Merritt’s French shoe line, and I think maybe Brett Dennan did something with Toms Shoes, too.

But now we have Tegan and Sara offering up shoes thanks to Macbeth, a company that also features designs from Frank Iero, My Chemical Romance guitarist — and more importantly, Leathermouth frontman. Iero’s shoes were designed to fight cancer, so to speak. And while I can’t find anything about it, I’m assuming Tegan and Sara’s shoes were designed to help fight straight people sex. Maybe. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
