The Huntingtons, Ghoti Hook, Tantrum of the Muse Reuniting for Benefit Concert in June

Our boy The 1/3 turned us on to this important happening in June. A bunch of bands that longtime Buzzgrinder readers will recognize and appreciate are reuniting for a good cause. I just went ahead and re-posted the entire blog entry from The Huntingtons about the event.
Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Circle Of Hope in Philadelphia (venue address & start time posted soon)…
A bit of info: Jeannie Pierce was diagnosed with stage 3 Brain Cancer on May 2nd, 2006. She has had three brain surgeries thus far and has limited use of the left side of her body. Long time Huntingtons fans will recognize the name Jeannie from the song Jeannie Hates The Ramones. Jeannie is the wife of original Huntingtons drummer, Mike Pierce (aka Mikee Huntington). To show our love and support for Mikee and to raise money to help his family during this most difficult of times, we have decided to get the old lineup back together for a big concert. We have asked several bands who we shared the mid 90’s scene around here with to reunite and take part in this concert as well. Basically, get ALL the old gang back together. Healing is best done in the company of family and, in many ways, we’re all family.
REUNITING FOR THE SHOW:
Huntingtons – classic lineup of Mikey, Cliffy & Mikee joined by longtime newbie Josh Blackway (aka Jonny)
Ghoti Hook
Tantrum Of The Muse

+ 2 more unconfirmed reunions (updated upon confirmation)ALSO PLAYING:
Main Line Riders
Adam & Dave’s Bloodline
Tickets will be just $10.00, donations will also be accepted during the show. 100% of monies brought in from the door, donations and Huntingtons/Main Line Riders merchandise sales during the concert will go directly to the Pierce family.Mikee’s email address is mikeehuntington@msn.com…paypal donations can also be sent to that email address. Drop him and Jeannie a line, send them some cash, lift them up in prayer…we all appreciate it very much.
FURTHERMORE:
To coincide with the concert, the band is doing a new album of sorts. All 8 songs from the long out of print Split cd we did with Darlington (mastered properly for the first time ever!), two songs from the Get Lost/Plastic Surgery sessions that didn’t make either album, Babysitter from the You’re Not Right 7 inch and two brand new songs (to be recorded on March 26, 2009 at Clay Creek…that’s where most of our albums were recorded at) will be the composition of this new album. This new album will be entitled Punk Sounds and will be available on Amazon.com as a digital only release. We will also have the album available as a paypal purchase release via download codes right here on our myspace page. Just as it is with the concert, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this album will be going directly to the Pierce family. We hope you will join us in lifting up our brother and friend, as well as his beautiful wife and children.

Did you grow up in the christian punk scene? I’m just getting that feeling…
Also, Chad from the Huningtons is or was in Himsa for awhile, I haven’t talked to him in awhile though so I’m not up on that info.

According to Cliffy on another message board, they’ve talked to One-21, Element (101), and Pink Daffodils. Nothing confirmed for those bands yet, though.

Nice. I remember the days of listening to Ghoti Hook and Tantrum of the Muse. Gotta love all that 90’s Christian underground music. Speaking of Pink Daffodils, didn’t Seth play in that band at one point or am I totally wrong?

Oh, The Huntingtons. I was one of the first to own that Split seeing as how Darlington recorded their songs at the CD store I worked at.

Hey, glad this was posted!!!! Yeah its old school, and the many people who shared that era and came to all of those shows in and around the Philly area will totally be there for this!!!! Our bassist Jim is attending and he is from CA, so who knows if Vinnie will make it or not, but its not a ruled out plan as of now.
anyway, you can get more info by checking the TOTM official myspace, which i posted above, see you there (hopefully)
