What’s the Best Moonshining Song?
Growing up right on the edge of what could demographically, stereotypically and anecdotally be considered Appalachia, moonshine was something I was always aware of.
And contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be painting the fender black on your homemade flatbed or propping up your single-wide with cinder blocks to enjoy a mason jar or two. Even respectable folk like phenomenologists and super late model drivers can revel in a little white lightning.
But that’s not my point. Moonshine hardly needs me to extol its many virtues. I just want to know what the best song about moonshine is. So grab a couple of jars and try not to beat on each other too much. I want to know.

Please. One only needs to look to traditional Irish folk music.
Behold, “The Moonshiner”
“I’m a rambler, I’m a gambler I’m a long ways from home; and them that don’t like me well leave me alone; I eat when I’m hungry and I drink when I’m dry; and if moonshine don’t kill me I’ll live till I die” -

Love No-Show Jones as I may, I have to give it up to Grandpa. He’s a badass of the banjo and performs a song like no other.
