Blink-182′s Tom DeLonge Seems Happy About Travis Barker’s Plane Crash

In a recent interview, Blink-182‘s Tom DeLonge made a head-scratching remark while discussing the 2008 plane crash that severely injured drummer Travis Barker and killed four others. Apparently, the crash served as a catalyst to get Blink back together, and that seems to be a good thing to DeLonge:

My biggest failure was the breakup of Blink. … If that accident hadn’t happened, we wouldn’t be a band. Plain and simple. That was fate.

To be fair, he never says anything overtly good about the plane crash. However, the way DeLonge characterizes it, the accident was a net positive in the end.

    if a plane crash was a promise to break up lame bands – i would suggest more of these small accidents. the music world would be a better place.

    While it’s debatable whether Blink getting back together is in fact a good thing, I get what Tom is saying. Good things can and usually do come out of bad situations (at least in my opinion).
