Morning Buzz: Vampire Weekend, Steve Lillywhite, Roger Daltrey

:: Vampire Weekend‘s keyboardist came out of the closet recently and said he tries to provide a “homosexual perspective” to the band. Too easy. Too, too, too easy.

:: Simon Cowell was always painted as an industry insider on American Idol, but his credentials are desperately thin compared to someone who’s interested in replacing him: Steve Lillywhite.

:: It was cool when Coalesce frontman Sean Ingram was on The People’s Court, because you didn’t know if he would jump over the stand and give the judge a karate chop. Plus he was for real. The latest case of band people on TV court, though — not so much.

:: I thought they’d exhausted all the Punk Goes… stuff. Actually, I knew they didn’t. I just hoped. Especially since they haven’t had a real punk band on one of those comps in, well… ever.

:: Roger Daltrey and Jimmy Page? Interesting.

:: Random tracks that don’t suck:
The New Pornographers – Your Hands (Together)
Johnny Foreigner – Feels Like Summer
Melt Banana – Last Target on the Last Day

YEAH!!!! I just learned of this band recently being featured on an NPR spot. I got their two albums and really enjoy their music. I was watching their videos online and doing some reading about the members of the band, and I (selfishly) had HOPED that this guy was gay!!!! :-) I think he’s ADORABLE, and I’m SO infatuated with Persian men – they are SO beautiful!!!! I could tell by reading and watching interviews with the band members that this guy was a pretty key factor in the creativity and style of the band. He comes across as VERY intelligent, talented and enthusiastic about what the band is creating. Now hearing that he’s GAY, too, has just absolutely MADE my day!!!! Rostam, I’ll DEFINITELY be your boyfriend!!!! :-)

One good thing may come out of Punk Goes Classic Rock: Randy Rhoads rising from the dead to kill Forever the Sickest Kids.
