New Releases: Norma Jean, ISIS, Torche

A good day for music, folks!

Though probably a bit, er… past their prime, Norma Jean‘s new one is probably the most significant release of note this week for Buzzgrinderers.

Second up, Melvins and ISIS are doing a split single, assumedly for their current tour, which is also ISIS’s last run.

Another split single comes to us from Buzzgrinder faves Torche and Boris

Dark Night of the Soul, the long-delayed Danger Mouse/Sparklehorse (RIP) collaboration with a group of vocalists ranging from James Mercer to The Flaming Lips, Jason Lytle to Frank Black to Iggy Pop.

I’m also excited about Jason Lytle’s new project with members of Earlimart, Admiral Radley. I heard a few tracks a while back that got me excited. It sounds like if Grandaddy and Earlimart had a baby. Duh.

On the electronic front, Autechre has some new bleeps and bloops.

Pre-Band of Horses group Carissa’s Wierd has a retrospective best-of.

And then there’s M.I.A., with quite possibly the worst-named album of all times. Not that anyone’s surprised.

Rock on.
