New Releases: Weezer, Les Savy Fav, Of Montreal
Weezer has returned with an unfortunately titled and designed album.
Les Savy Fav has returned with more post-punk, beardy, large-guy-with-no-shirt goodness.
Of Montreal are back with more drugged-out dance pop.
Azure Ray and Superchunk have returned.
Bill Hicks has a box set. (RIP)
Brandon Flowers of The Killers has a solo piece.
DOOM has a new one that will inevitably be the chillest and most absurd hip-hop album of the year.
Dragonforce have a double album, which is the only way all their solos would fit.
Eluvium has a new EP.
And the great Robert Plant is back and ready to rock.

I listened to the new Weezer album and thought there were some pretty decent songs on it. They lyrics are just as ridiculous as they’ve always been (why does not one ever mention how ridiculous the lyrics on the Blue Album and Pinkerton are?).
That new DOOM is a live album, so who knows if it’s actually him. I’m stoked about new Grinderman (get to see them in Memphis soon!), Dungen, Black Angels, and Black Mountain. Definitely wanna check out the new Superchunk, Junip, and Robert Plant.

@sammy: because tired of sex and getchoo, along with lines such as “i’m dumped she’s a lesbian, i thought she was the one. we where good as married in my mind, but married in my mind is no good” are pretty much the most profound words us men will ever hear.

man, you got my hopes up. i thought it was a new doom cd, not a live one. either way i’m convinced he records his tracks laying down on a couch smoking a blunt half asleep.

and don’t hold me to this, but i think it might also be because those early lyrics at least seemed to come from a more innocent place. after a certain time, rivers (who even seems to admit it in some songs) was writing ridiculous lyrics because he knew people would eat them up.

I think it baffles me more that people bash his current lyrics. Some lyrics from the new album are pretty witty, however silly they may be. He delivers things in a very decent package. I mean, the whole part about KISS in “In the Garage” is super silly, but one of my favorite parts to sing along to.

Blue and Pinkerton are awesome, everything else ranges from alright to downright horrid.
Let’s not get things twisted.
