On the Scene: Fishboy in Denton, Texas

Denton, TX

Sure, people talk about how amazing New York, Chicago, Austin and the like are. But that’s easy. When a city is big, you’re bound to find some cool stuff — lots of people live there. What about when a city isn’t some huge metropolis, but it somehow finds a way to be awesome? Well, that’s why we’re on the scene.

This week, cartoonist/musician extraordinaire Eric Edward Fishboy (of Fishboy fame, in case you were unawares) provided us with his guide to Denton, Texas. And while you’re at it, give Fishboy’s badass new album, Classic Creeps, a listen.

What about your city? Is the ratio of awesome to lame not commensurate with most towns its size? Let us know. We want to hear about it.

I used to go hang out with my friend Brady (who played tuba in Fishboy back in the day) in Denton quite a bit. I always thought it was a great town.

I lived in Denton for a couple of years while attending UNT. Now I live right outside it in Lewisville, its boring older brother.
