Neal Morgan – In the Yard
Neal Morgan, who has drummed for both Joanna Newsom and Bill Callahan, released his second album recently. The record, In the Yard, consists of no instruments except drums, some percussion, a reedy spoken-word voice and an array of intricate backing vocals.
The limitations posed by this formula might seem rigid, but the record is a respectable accomplishment — especially considering tracks like Father’s Day and Thinking Big. But you don’t have to take our word for it. You can listen to a full stream of the record at OPBmusic.

I thought some of his stuff was OK, but a lot of people definitely went outside a couple of minutes into his set opening for Bill Callahan in Little Rock.
