Top 10 Illegible Metal Logos

Top 10 Illegible Metal Logos
Thank the Lord they were able to fit the inverted crucifix in.

MTV Newsroom gives us their picks for the top 10 most indecipherable death metal band logos. Here’s the reasoning behind my favorite (see Prosanctus Inferi’s tableau above), filling in the #2 spot:

Imposing American black/death metallers who’ll be on the bill for this year’s Sacrifice of the Nazarene Child Festival in San Antonio, Texas, later this month. Their logo looks like something you might flush down the toilet.

Coincidentally, these are also the top 10 duotone black and white designs of all time.

Chiodos Is Respectful To Women

Chiodos_loves_women.jpg

Writer Mike Usinger provides a great caption to the above photo.

“To his chagrin, one member of Chiodos discovered that his use of urban slang actually had a repellent effect on the “bitches”.”

Ahh… boys in bands have really come a long way, haven’t they? Don’t worry nameless band member, you’re in Chiodos, so you don’t have anything to worry about.

Oh, and for other upstanding gentleman who want to purchase the shirt, you can buy it for $24 at Urban Outfitters.

Jacob Rogers Is the Future of Music and Fashion

With album sales overall on the decline, why not focus on the combination of music AND fashion? In this case, making songs about the apparel.

That’s what Between the Buried and Me singer Tommy Rogers is doing, in partnering with artist/designer Jake Troth to form Jacob Rogers:

“Jacob Rogers blends music and everyday fashion, each design having its own unique soundtrack. All clothing is very limited and each article comes with a free 5 song ep.”

If there’s anything I want with my everyday fashion, it’s a soundtrack. It’s not enough have 5000 songs in my back pocket. No. I want my jacket to have a song that it can rock to.

Take this design (the image is titled andie on their website). It screams, “I don’t own an iron.”

I really do like this item below. Red hoodies are fun, and come on, that crest thing isn’t really that overdone, right?

Now if only I could get a soundtrack for my hair.

A Grand Design: The Heavenly States, Black Mountain

Please don’t think Jay and I had a falling out. It’s just been bananas here at Buzzgrinder HQ that I haven’t been linking up the slick design goodness that aGRANDdesign is featuring everyday.

Send snazzy designs Jays way (jay@agranddesign.org) and if you’re lucky he’ll make fun of it.

Some featured work:

Amy Lee In Digital Form

Have you ever wanted to dress up a taller, skinnier, and prettier Amy Lee of Evanescence? I know I have, and I did. Guys, massage that latent homosexuality stereotype and head on over to the Cartoon Doll Emporium and see if you can work the clunky non-Flash interaction of the dress up function (I used Firefox 2.0 for Mac, which was probably the issue).

Here are the results of maybe fifteen minutes of work:

Much harder than it looks.
