Fuse TV is going to be broadcasting sets live for both Metallica and Mastodon when they take the stage at Bonnaroo this weekend:
Metallica’s set can be seen this Saturday, June 14th at 10pm, while Mastodon’s set can be seen on Sunday, June 15th at 9pm only on Fuse.
Set a calendar reminder for yourself to turn on the TV and skip socializing on those nights. Or just set your DVR to record it if seeing concerts “live on TV” doesn’t make you feel like part of some special club of people who don’t realize there’s going to be a healthy time delay anyway, to protect the sensitive ears of viewers in case Lars Ulrich decides to mouth off.
Coachella 2008 was predicted to be mediocre in comparison to past years. Having gone myself last year, I was unimpressed by this year’s lineup. News trickling in from the weekend seems to indicate, though, that performances from Portishead, Prince, Kraftwerk, Gogol Bordello and others were enough to make up for the less-than-ideal showing overall.
Download Portishead’s set in full, watch a video of Prince playing Creep and get all the Coachella highlights after the jump. (more…)
With touring band members living on $2.50 a day, and magazines closing shop left and right, it’s good to know that PureVolume is stepping up to the plate down at SXSW:
“The PureVolume parties have always been some of the best in town. This year they upped the ante with a giant, tented outdoor space, complete with dancing, open bar, and live music — all until close at 4 a.m.”
Lord knows the music industry folks need their dancing, open bars and live music (there’s certainly not enough of those events here in NYC). The best part is the obscene amounts of cash they’re raking in for party sponsorship.
“social media upstart SocialThing reportedly paid $10,000 to attach its young brand to the “ranch” for the company’s launch party last night.”
Boy, that’s a whole lot of ‘Pure Promos’ on the front page of PureVolume, huh? But as of publishing, those will still cost your little band $350+. Sorry!
Looks like Brian “Head” Welch will be performing at this year’s Cornerstone Festival while throngs of jaded scenesters roll their eyes from afar. Says Blabbermouth:
“According to the festival’s web site, Welch will make an appearance on one of the festival’s side stages on the event’s closing day, Saturday, July 5.”
Wow, all that street cred and he’s playing a side stage?
This year’s Coachella festival, set for April 25-27, has announce their lineup. It includes Jack Johnson, Raconteurs, The National, Battles, Animal Collective, Portishead, Death Cab For Cutie, M.I.A., Flogging Molly, Roger Waters (of Pink Floyd), Justice and many more. Tickets go on sale Jan. 25.
Final Fantasy had a song used in a European commercial without his permission and, as an act of apology, the company behind the commercial have decided to finance a festival for him:
Wait a minute, a festival?? You bet. “So far I think we’ve got all the ‘best bands in the world’, plus my lousy excuse for a band,” Pallett joked in an email to Pitchfork, and indeed the folks already lined up for this thing make for a fine bunch. Dirty Projectors, Frog Eyes, and Six Organs of Admittance will play all three dates of the fest (in London, Vienna, and Berlin), while Deerhoof will headline the latter two.

If you’re at Warped Tour this year you just might run into Audrey Kitching. She does bands hair (since bands are into that stuff), she models, and has pink hair. Buzznet has set up a page devoted to the Warped Tour and Audrey’s adventures. She interviews bands and posts videos and blogs about it.
You can’t go wrong with quotes like this:
“i have a pink zune now its badass its like ipod but you can do more with it. pink is only the limited addition and i love it!”
Have fun with this one, gang.
