3. Element 101 - Stereo Girl
Well crafted progressive pop rock, without any pretentious, overbearing song arrangements or senseless notebook poetry. Radio-friendly and musically unshallow at the same time.

2. Face to Face - s/t
Blue collarish punk rock with songs about mild teenage rebellion and just tryin’ to get it right. It served as a blueprint for future pop punk bands and a soundtrack for late-nineties skater kids’ summer vacations. Every song is a gem.

1. Cynic - Focus
Theirs was a formula destined for failure: quasi-death metal mixed with jazz, computerized singing, Chapman sticks, synthesizers, Eastern philosophy, and a smattering of electronic drums. But it was an 8-song release and a small tour that changed the face of people who cared about metal. The instrumental “Textures” alone is worth the CD price.
